You're more than welcome. Just did some more careful testing today, and noticed this. If I load GoogleMaps, and keep it loaded, toggling back and forth between it and the photo app, I _do_ get the white crosshair icon, pretty much instantly. However 1 out of 4 attempts, I still did not.

I have the exact same problem, and it was/is driving me nuts! All GPS and geotag settings are enabled, and the location EXIF data was included... once! Didn't know about the little red/white crosshair icon in the bottom corner of the picture-taking window; very useful!
And I agree, if I have to wait around from 1-5 minutes to get a l more…
Thanks for you comment. I don't believe caching coordinates locally is prohibited, although what you've mentioned in your quote is very interesting. I think the Google T&Cs are slightly ambiguous (which Google is famous for ;-) ) and I believe that the intention behind your quote is that Google is trying to prevent people using their Geocoding more…
I guess the application performance can be improved if we can cache geographical coordinates locally. I think that is prohibited. From the google link you provided:
"Note: the geocoding service may only be used in conjunction with displaying results on a Google map; geocoding results without displaying them on a map is prohibited" more…
